Cambodia's Digital Economy and Business Web Portals

Phnom Penh: On October 27, 2022, the Digital Economy and Business Committee, Techo Startup Center, and Meta company co-organized the workshop on "Cambodia's Digital Economy and Business Web Portals" at Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh Hotel. This workshop was presided over by His Excellency Dr. Kong Marry, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Digital Economy and Business Committee, with the participation of around 120 representatives from the Digital Government Committee, relevant ministries and institutions, private sector, associations, and civil society.

The workshop aims disseminate information to the public and private sectors as well as urge the public to use essential web portals and websites related to digital business and economy, including:

(1) The Digital Economy and Business Committee website (www.digitaleconomy.gov.kh) displays activities of the Digital Economy and Business Committee, data, digital platforms, and important projects related to sectors that support the digital economy and society.

(2) The business platform (www.business.gov.kh) is a central hub that gathers all information about doing business in Cambodia, making it easier for businesses to access information related to requesting business certificates, licenses, and permits and doing business in Cambodia.

(3) Startup Cambodia platform (www.startupcambodia.gov.kh) is a part of the National Startup Cambodia Program that compiles a list of stakeholders in Cambodia's startup ecosystem with the aim to increase interaction between startup support stakeholders and the ecosystem to become more interconnected and vibrant.

(4) The E-Commerce project (Go4eCam) provides the necessary conditions for MSMEs to go digital and gain access to much-needed finance for e-commerce uptake and business formalization to support export readiness.

In addition, the workshop also disseminated information related to the Digital Economy Web Portal (www.dep.kh), a web portal that provides information on the digital economy and society in Cambodia. The web portal is a collaborative work between Open Development Cambodia and Meta company.

This workshop was organized in alignment with the advice of His Excellency Akka Pundit Sopheacha AUN Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance, who sees the importance, potentials and opportunities of using digital technologies in the development of digital economy and the promotion of digital business in Cambodia, in which accessing comprehensive and trustworthy data, information, and activities of the digital economy and business through web portals and media platforms is essential in promoting digital adoption and the digital inclusion and promoting the knowledge about the use of digital technologies. Furthermore, today’s workshop distinctly reflects the importance of synergy between the public and private sectors in promoting digital adoption and digital transformation in all sectors and of all actors.

As a result, the workshop ran smoothly and achieved expected outputs and useful inputs through the lively discussion and the sharing of innovative ideas and experiences.
